Riviera Utilities Electric Rate Increase & LED Lighting

Contact: Miles McDaniel Tel: (251) 970-4130 E-mail: mmcdaniel@rivierautilities.com Riviera Utilities customers can expect to see their electric bills increase by roughly $3.00 starting January 1, 2016. This rate adjustment is due to the rise in costs associated with the purchase and distribution of power, and Riviera must take steps to ensure that there is enough generated revenue to cover these costs along with accounting for residential and commercial growth in the future. Riviera Utilities' customers will soon have an LED lighting option. Starting January 1, 2016 RU will offer an LED lighting rate to customers. Riviera Utilities' adoption of LED street lighting will set a precedent for other municipalities looking to adopt LEDs. This will allow RU to begin transitioning its standard offering for new lighting away from high pressure sodium and metal halide fixtures.
