Apprentice Lineworker to Journey Lineworker

Beginning Wednesday, December 19, 2018, Riviera Utilities will begin taking applications to fill a job vacancy for Apprentice or Journey Lineworker. We are considering applicants with qualifications in the following range with salary commensurate with education and experience:
MIMIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Apprentice I)
High school diploma or equivalent and

2 years’ experience as a Ground Worker or comparable entry level experience with a utility company building and maintaining distribution and transmission circuits.
QUALIFICATIONS UP TO (Journey Lineworker)

Completion of a 4 year structured Apprentice Lineworker program within a utility company with at least 2 additional years of experience as a Ground Worker or comparable experience with a utility company building and maintaining distribution and transmission circuits, OR

6 years’ experience with a utility company building and maintaining distribution and transmission circuits and completion of an Apprentice Lineworker Pre-Assessment, OR

Graduation from a certified lineman training college or program and at least 4 years (8000 hours) of on the job experience with a utility company building and maintaining distribution and transmission circuits.

A valid certificate of completion from another lineworker apprenticeship program may, at employer’s sole discretion, be accepted in lieu of some of the years of required work experience.

If 21 years of age or older, applicant must obtain a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within 1 year after the date of hiring.

If less than 21 years of age, applicant must have a valid United States Driver’s license and must obtain a valid Alabama Driver’s License within 60 days after the date of hiring. Within 1 year after becoming 21 years of age, applicant must obtain a valid CDL.
