Foley, AL – On Sunday, October 4, 2026, Riviera Utilities responded to a sanitary sewer overflow (SSO) that occurred from the Pebble Creek Lift Station located near 1102 Melbourne Court in Foley, Alabama. The incident occurred during a rainstorm that resulted in more than 5 inches in 12 hours, with intensity rates reaching over 2 inches per hour. The SSO event was caused by excessive force main pressure preventing the lift station pumps from pumping into the system at the designed flow rates. System Operators opened valves and sent flow to other collection basins to relieve the pressure. The system pressure was eventually low enough to allow the pumps to operate within the specifications.

Incident Details:

  • Volume: 6190 gallons
  • Final Destination: Bon Secour River

A copy of the data submitted to the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) for this event is attached for reference.
