FOLEY, Ala. — The Riviera Utilities Board of Directors has named James Wallace as the utility's next President and Chief Executive Officer. Wallace will succeed current President and CEO Brian Skelton, who is set to retire at the end of November 2026.
Wallace joined Riviera Utilities in 2010 as an engineer, quickly advancing to Chief Engineer before going on to serve as Chief Operating Officer and, most recently, Chief Administrative Officer and Executive Vice President. Throughout his tenure, Wallace has played an integral role in strengthening Riviera's electric, natural gas, water, and wastewater operations, supporting system improvements, and preparing the utility to meet the needs of Baldwin County's growing communities.
“James has put in the work, earned the respect of his peers, and proven that he understands the responsibility of leading Riviera,” said Charlie Ebert, Chairman of the Riviera Utilities Board of Directors. “Baldwin County is growing and changing, and we must be prepared to grow right alongside it. We are confident James has the experience, commitment, and vision to lead this organization into its next chapter while staying true to the principles that have brought us this far.”
A registered Professional Engineer in Alabama, Wallace brings nearly three decades of engineering, operations, and executive experience to the position. He holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from Auburn University and a Master of Engineering in Transmission and Distribution from Gonzaga University. He is also a Certified Public Power Manager through the American Public Power Association.
Beyond his work at Riviera, Wallace has remained actively involved in the communities the utility serves. He has built strong relationships with local leaders, industry organizations, and community partners while advocating for initiatives that support Baldwin County's continued growth. A dedicated supporter of local schools and educators, Wallace has also been a consistent advocate for educational outreach and community involvement, regularly volunteering his time to support local charitable events.
Wallace and Skelton will work closely together throughout November to ensure a smooth transition of leadership and continued progress on the utility's ongoing priorities.
Riviera Utilities extends its sincere appreciation to Skelton for his leadership, dedication, and service to the organization and the communities it serves.
