FOLEY, Ala. - Riviera Utilities' is pleased to announce that the Foley City Council appointed Mike Dugger to the Riviera Utilities' Board of Directors on Monday, April 15. His appointment follows the retirement of Bob Schreiber, a well-beloved Board Member, former teacher, and US Marine Corps Veteran, who served on Riviera's Board for almost two decades.

Mike Dugger is a former Superintendent and General Manager of Riviera Utilities, and he brings 32 years of experience in electric and gas utility operations, public policy, and regulation, as well as an extensive record of community involvement and investment.

"[Mike's] vast experience in the utility sector will be a great asset for our company," Hellmich said. "He is a man of integrity and has always cared deeply about Riviera employees."

Dugger, who will begin his first term on May 1, 2024, was first hired by Riviera in August of 1981 as Assistant Superintendent for Gas, Water, and Wastewater Treatment. He was quickly promoted to Superintendent and served in that position until his promotion to General Manager of Riviera Utilities in 2001. He retired from Riviera in 2014 to travel the States with his wife.

"We are very pleased to welcome Mike Dugger to the Riviera Board," said Barbara Ingram, Board Chair. "He will be a valuable asset for the Utility and its employees. His knowledge of Riviera’s operations and his industry experience will be an added value to the Board."

In addition to his time at Riviera, Dugger worked as a Project Engineer for the Alabama Department of Environmental Management after graduating from Auburn University in 1978. He served as Chairman of Electric Cities of Alabama and South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce in 2005; Board Member for the Foley Rotary Club; President of the Kiwanis Club of Foley, Treasurer for the Alabama Natural Gas Association for 18 years; Officer and Board Member for the Public Gas Association of Alabama; General Chairman for the United Municipal Distributors Group; and stayed an active member of the Alabama Water Pollution Control Association and American Water Works Association.

Dugger said he is honored to be appointed and is looking forward to collaborating with the Board in their support of Riviera's incoming CEO, Brian Skelton, as he navigates his new role.

"I am excited to support Riviera as a whole and assist management to the best of my ability as they move forward," he said. "Riviera is a great company, and I look forward to reconnecting with employees."
