There are holidays for practically everything now — National Popcorn Day, National Talk Like a Pirate Day, National Bad Poetry Day, and more. Not many of those days can claim to protect vital resources, hundreds of jobs, and a healthy community.
August 11, 2026, or 8/11 Day, is set aside as a reminder to home builders, contractors, homeowners, and weekend project warriors to call Alabama 811 before digging to avoid damage to underground utilities and the costly repairs that can follow. This year, utilities and cities throughout Baldwin County are extending the holiday and its important message all week by shining a green light on safety for "Glowing Green for 811 Week," from August 10 through August 14.
Riviera Utilities, the City of Foley, the City of Fairhope, Fairhope Utilities, Daphne Utilities, the City of Daphne, the City of Spanish Fort, the Town of Magnolia Springs, Baldwin EMC, Gulf Shores Utilities, North Baldwin Utilities, and the City of Bay Minette are partnering to spread awareness and educate our citizens and customers about the resources available to them.
