Riviera customers,
In late September of last year, Hurricane Helene made landfall along the Big Bend of Florida only to continue its destruction in Georgia, South Carolina, Virginia, and Tennessee. Hurricane Milton followed right on Helene's heels leaving layers of debris in its path. While our home in Baldwin County was fortunately unmarked by these disasters, Riviera Utilities' electric line workers, engineers, and vegetation management crews were there — repairing lines, clearing debris, and working to restore power to devastated communities. Their stories serve as a humbling reminder of how important preparedness and storm safety education is when crisis hits home.
Whether you're a born-and-raised local with a story for every named storm, a newcomer still figuring out best practices, or a visitor escaping the winter weather up North — we've prepared this guide for you. In my first year with Riviera, one thing became crystal clear: This team isn’t just doing a job — they’re serving the community they love, and that mindset drives everything we do. Our nearly 300 employees have worked diligently to strengthen our systems, investing in critical infrastructure upgrades, expanding smart technologies, and reinforcing our systems to stand up to severe weather. No matter the path, we are ready to weather the storm with you.
In this guide, you will find practical steps toward preparing your home, business, and family. We will delve into strategies for managing power outages, staying aware amid connectivity issues, and ensuring the safety of your family and friends. At Riviera, we know our role goes beyond utilities. In times of uncertainty, we are committed to being a steady, dependable presence and offering clear communication, timely updates, and the resources you need to plan ahead. I encourage you to review this guide with your family, make a plan, and take action now.
