What do you mean the first 72 are on you?
Make sure you have 3 days of non-perishable food items – clean water – medical supplies – toiletries on hand for each member of the household – don’t forget about those pets
Where are your crews?
Safety is our highest priority. Before our crews head out to begin restoring power to homes and businesses, wind gusts must fall below 35 mph and storms must completely stop. Once deemed safe, our safety and risk assessment teams identify trouble spots so our crews can begin work.
What if I have a medical condition that requires continued electricity?
Make sure you have a generator or a plan to seek medical help until power is restored.
What if I encounter a downed line?
Don’t touch any loose or dangling wires and call 911.
How can I be safe after a storm?
Avoid downed trees or power lines. Watch for standing water that could be energized by nearby debris. Call 911 or Riviera Utilities to remove debris from the road before driving.
Where do I put my debris after the storm?
Don’t place any debris directly under power lines. When debris is placed under power lines it makes it difficult for our crews to repair any damage to the lines.
How do I use my generator?
Never try to power the house wiring by plugging the generator into a wall outlet. Known as “back feeding,” this practice puts utility workers, your neighbors, and your household at risk of electrocution.
Don’t run a portable generator in the rain.
