Hurricane Isaias Update II: Gulf Shores Natural Gas Service
Oct 9th, 2026
Update as of: Oct. 9, 2026 at 11:30 p.m.
Due to the potential impacts of storm surge from Hurricane Isaias and abnormal system conditions, Riviera Utilities will temporarily shut off natural gas service to some customers in Gulf Shores as part of our established emergency safety procedures.
Storm surge and severe flooding can create dangerous conditions for natural gas infrastructure. To reduce the risk to our customers, employees, and community, we are taking this precautionary action in an abundance of caution.
All customers located East, West, and South of West 12th Avenue will be impacted.
Temporarily interrupting natural gas service is not a decision we take lightly, but the safety of our community comes first.
We are unable to provide an estimated restoration time. Our crews will assess conditions and begin the process of safely restoring service as soon as circumstances allow. Evacuees can schedule their pilot relight appointment once they return and work conditions are safe.
To determine whether your service is affected, please view the map below. If you have any questions, please call our office.
Additional information will be shared on Riviera Utilities' website as it becomes available.
In the interest of public safety, please do not approach Riviera Utilities crews while they are working in the field. Questions regarding restoration, utility operations, or storm response should be directed to Riviera Utilities Communications at communications@rivierautilities.com.
Information reflects conditions known as of the time listed above and is subject to change as damage assessments and restoration work continue.
