Beginning October 2023, Riviera Utilities will be introducing the RU Text Outage System and RU ALERTS to better communicate with our customers.
Riviera Utilities electric customers will be able to simply text “OUT” to 251-943-4999 to report service interruptions and "STATUS" to the same number for an update. The RU Text Outage System was designed to make reporting issues easier as they arise.
RU ALERTS are notifications sent out in emergency situations to relay important serving information or urgent utility alerts.
Riviera Electric customers have been automatically opted into the RU Text Outage System.
All Riviera customers (Electric, Gas, Water, Wastewater, and Broadband) could receive important service information alerts or emergency utility alerts from RU ALERTS. Riviera Utilities will not contact customers unless deemed extremely important to public safety.
Customers can opt out of the RU Text Outage System and RU ALERTS at any time by texting "QUIT" to 251-943-4999. If you are an Electric customer and choose to opt out of RU ALERTS you will not be able to report your outage through text without re-enrolling by texting "JOIN" to 251-943-4999.
Riviera Utilities natural gas, broadband, water, and wastewater customers must call 251-943-4999 to report service interruptions or issues.

Electric customers: Welcome to RU Text Outage System and RU ALERTS! To report an outage, text “OUT” to 251-943-4999, and follow the prompts. Once you report your outage, you can text "STATUS" or visit https://outage.rivierautilities.com/ for an update. Customers not interested in utilizing this feature can opt-out at any time by texting "QUIT" to 251-943-4999. For more info, click here.

Select "Phone/Email update" and insert your home/cell numbers and email
