Rivera Utilities Recognizes Leon Barber as the 2008 Employee of the Year
“Any of our twelve Employee of the Month candidates would have made a great Employee of the Year. But, you can only select one and that job is never an easy one,” says Riviera General Manager, Mike Dugger. “We have so many outstanding Employee of the Month’s to choose from that it becomes a tremendous challenge. However, one individual always seems to bring out the best in themselves and takes the lead in the selection process. Our Employee of the Year, Leon Barber, just happens to be that person for 2008,” Dugger continued.
Earlier in the year when Leon was selected the Employee of the Month, Mike Dugger stated, “Leon was very instrumental in coordinating our efforts for the Bass Pro project completion in Spanish Fort. For two years, Leon’s primary focus was working with Cypress Equity, the firm putting in the Bass Pro facility. He had a tremendous working relationship with them. However, once when things weren’t going so well, Leon stressed to the company that he wanted to be proud of this job when it was finished. He reminded them that it was one of the biggest projects Riviera had and it was his baby to complete. He stated that it was a matter of pride in doing a job right. Well, let me tell you. The job was completed and it was done the right way thanks to Leon and his ability to work with Cypress Equity,” stated Dugger.
When the 2008 Employee of the Year was announced, Leon, with a surprised look on his face made his way to the podium to be recognized. “I am honored and proud to receive this award. There are so many others at Riviera that are as qualified to receive this award as I am. But, I tell you that I could not have gotten this without the help and support of our line crew, Rylands Underground Service employees, the staff at our office and others. Let me just say, thank you,” Barber commented.
Riviera Utilities congratulates Leon Barber, and the other employees who were recognized throughout the year for their exemplary work and dedication to provide quality service to our customers, showed respect for their co-workers, and work hard for the company. We thank all of our employees who recognize that customer service is number one.
